PLAYING TURNS

1.     Start Panzer General II and select Play by E Mail (fourth icon from the left). On any PG2 screen you can hover the mouse over any button to get a short description of what it does.

2.     Select Load Game and select your Drill Instructor’s turn (there should only be one turn available if you are deleting EML files after playing them).

3.     Password: If this is your first turn of the game: Enter a password of your choice, and remember it for subsequent turns. Some players like to use the same password for all games, but this is not required. It is not necessary to enter a password to play, but it is highly recommended that you do for security reasons.

4.     Play your first turn and hit End Turn by clicking on the hand on the right side bottom of the screen.

5.     You'll be prompted to save the turn. At this point, you must name the turn. All you need to do is change the last letter of the turn you received from your Drill Instructor, usually a change from “a” to “b”.

a.     Naming turns:

                                                                          i.      Standard: Most club members now use the same method of identifying turns – the scenario name, your name, your opponent’s name, and the turn number where the first name is the attacker and the second name is the defender. The attacker is always the player who starts the scenario.

ii.      Example: So,  in this example, let's say your Drill Instructor sent you a game of Zitadelle.  The German player moves first in Zitadelle therefore the German player is the attacker. Let's say your name is John, and Clayballs is your Drill Instructor, the turn you received would look like this “Zit_clay_john_01a” When you have played your Russian side and end the turn you name it “Zit_clay_john_01b”. This designation indicates Clayballs is the attacker, John is the defender, and you have both completed your first turn. Clayballs would then reply with a turn designated “Zit_clay_john_02a” meaning Clayballs has now played the attacking half of the second turn.

iii.      Mirrored games: Most likely you will have both agreed to give each other the opportunity to switch sides and start a new game (This is commonly known as a mirrored game). So, in this case, you would start a game where you are now the Germans and you will send your opening turn and it will be designated “Zit_john_clay_01a”

6.     Exit the game. It is always a good habit to completely exit Panzer General II before you play another turn.
